10 Summer Beauty Hacks That Every Girl Needs To Know!

With the rising temperature, there is also a rise in the number of beauty problems.

Most of us think summers are for floral dresses, messy hair and a pair of trendy sunglasses. But there’s a lot more to summers than the perfect beach selfies and sunny snapchat stories. While none of us like to talk about it, unfortunately, most of us have to face the damage the heat causes to our skin, hair and body.

If your body has already started showing the residual effects of too much fun in the sun then this is how you can get your beauty back and keep it moving through the last days of the season.

1. Spraying your roots with dry shampoo at night will help you wake up to gorgeous looking hair that looks freshly washed.

2. Applying a powder deodorant to the back of your neck 10 minutes before blow drying your hair saves you from all the sweat. Styling made a lot easier, isn’t it?

3. You can easily get rid of self-tan by applying a paste of baking soda and water to your skin. The mixture will also gently exfoliate your skin.

4. Coat the blades of the razor in olive oil to protect the metal from rusting.

5. To prevent sunburned skin, all you need to do is freeze aloe vera gel in ice cube trays overnight and then rub the same over the damaged area.

6. The acidity of lemon helps to get rid of the sweat stains from your shirts. Try it the next time you run out of your spot remover.

Did You Know? Your Lip Balm Can Be Used In Places Other Than Just Your Lips

Lip balm is my most basic, and the most essential cosmetic I own. I love lip balm so much, that I have, at the very least, at least 2 spare, unopened ones, other than the one which is in use (I make my own lip balm too, at times!). So, naturally, I would wonder, what else can I use it for, other than healing my chapped lips!

Well, here’s the answer! Here are some more (totally different) uses of lip balm, which would want to make you go buy that new tube as soon as possible!
Note: These treatments use unflavored, uncolored lip balms, preferably.

  1. Tames Frizzy Hair

Most of the time, frizzy and flyaway hairs cause a major problem for us. A quick way to deal with this? Rub some lip balm on your fingers, and then rub your fingers over your hair. Voila! Problem solved!

2. Heals Extremely Dry Skin (This includes cracked heels too)

Lip balm can be used to heal extremely dry parts of your skin, especially elbows, in between fingers, and other such areas. All you need to do is rub some lip balm over these areas and massage gently with your fingers. The next morning? You’ll be greeted with soft, happy skin!

3. Use It As A Base To Make Perfume Last Longer

Apply some lip balm on your wrists, neck and other areas where you apply perfume. Let it sink in the skin for some time, and then apply your perfume. This will help your perfume to stay on longer.

Have You Ever Wondered Why We Close Our Eyes While We Kiss? There’s A Scientific Answer

Every time you must have kissed, you must have found yourself closing your eyes.

That has become more of a standard protocol – to lean forward, bring the lips together and close your eyes. have you ever wondered why we close our eyes?Well, science finally has an answer to that – According to psychologists Polly Dalton and Sandra Murphy, “the brain cannot fully appreciate the physical when distracted with the visual.”

Meaning, our brain function in a way that it can’t handle both the things: visual and physical.

Putting in other words, it’s just a technique that we don’t shift our focus from kissing (you wouldn’t want to get distracted while kissing someone, right?)

Psychologists believe that the intimate act of kissing paves a path for an intercourse, and that’s why the brain doesn’t want you to deviate from that path, or derail the concentration.

This is what the psychologists had to say:

Participants were fitted with a small device that emitted a subtle vibration on their hand. While they wore the device, they were given the visual and mental task of searching for letters. The participants reported that while they were searching for letters, the vibration felt less apparent, whereas when they closed their eyes, the vibration on their hand felt much more significant.

So basically, your kiss builds a momentum for a more physically connected moment.

And this happens only when you kiss your bae; we don’t shut our eyes while kissing our mothers (Now you know why!).

A closed-eye kiss is an attempt to intensify the intimacy of the encounter.

[Watch] Ranbir Kapoor Steals The Show In Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s Teaser

It’s quite unusual for a teaser to stay put on an actor in the film of multi-starrers’, but KJo’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s teaser does the unusual.

The teaser feels like a musical journey with Ranbir giving out the first few lines of the title song that merges beautifully with the rest of the teaser. The first few seconds does the magic for the layman when Ranbir looks straight into the camera and his piercing gaze and vulnerability makes you feel infinite.

The scene flows into the rest of the teaser which doesn’t reveal much about the plot, but keeps you hooked even when it’s 1 minutes 38 seconds long. The film also stars Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Fawad Khan.

But deservingly, the actor who steals the show is Ranbir Kapoor. His raw acting piques your interest and keeps you gripped till the last nanosecond of the teaser.

The Quint

The entire film is shot in London, Paris, and Austria and the teaser gives you a peek into the visual surprise that the film beholds.

Arijit Singh has done justice to the title track of the movie that is bound to stir your soul and get you humming.

Watch the teaser here and fall in love with the magic KJo has to offer:

‘PINK’ Tells Us All That Is Wrong With Our “Society” And You Ought To Watch It

December 2012 saw a big revolution in our country. It saw people’s anger towards lechers. It saw the nation’s unity against rape. But did the 2012 Delhi Gang rape case change anything?

We still wake up to news of rapes almost daily. Some minors, some adults, even some elder citizens are raped every now and then. Someone breaks into a paying guest accommodation but still the girls are taught to stay in and take precaution. Why?

As the lawyer, Mr Deepak Sehgal (Amitabh Bachchan), quips in PINK, “We’ve all been going in the wrong direction since forever. We should make sure to keep our boys safe (from ‘provocative’ women) and not the girls.”

PINK reiterates the problems in gender inequality and the idea of ‘consent’ in an absolutely impacting way. It tells the same story but in manner that will keep you gripped until the end. It revolves around a sexual harassment case wherein fingers are pointed at the girl’s “questionable character” and how power and influence turn the situation against her.

It brings up a lot of double standards and hypocritical stands prevailing in our “society”.

It’s OK for a guy to stay out late, party or have sex with any girl he likes but if a girl does the same, God save her soul. Plus, a usual stranger girl is OK to have sex with but, God forbid, if she turns out to be a sex worker, she immediately needs to be thrown out because you know “ki woh ladki galat hai.”

“Only the men drink. Ek achche ghar ki ladki sharaab nahi peeti (a reputed family’s daughter doesn’t drink). Aur jo aisa karti hain, unke sath aisa he hona chahiye (and whoever does that, they deserve the bad things to happen to them).”

Well, what about the achche ghar ke ladke?

An independent working woman is usually looked at as non-ideal. Basically, any woman without her laaj ka gehna is not to be spoken or seen around with.

A girl from North-East? Super! Harass her as much as you want because, who cares?

Consent. What is that? If a ‘forward’ lady chats with you or drinks with you, you know she wants to sleep with you. You know you’ll get it because YOU WANT IT.

And now that you, being a girl, have been out so late and have been drinking, it is all right if someone outraged your modesty because you called for it. Because pubs, roads, cafes, resorts and whatnots are only for men to be chilling at in the night.

It is absolutely OK to keep a check on random girls staying in your locality. It is OK if you keep standing and peeping into their flats because, at the end of the day, you have taken thetheka of keeping your society safe.

You forget that you’re the peeping into someone else’s house though, but that’s OK, right?

Aside from pointing out all these issues that are plaguing our lives, the film’s plus points are the performances.

Amitabh Bachchan has, as wonted, done a great job as Lawyer Deepak Sehgal. His baritone, facial expressions and contentions make for a great combination. It is he who moves you with the striking realities of life.

Tapsee Pannu successfully brings out the feelings of anxiety and intimidation that the abused Minal Arora goes through.

Kriti Kulhari’s protrayal of Lucknow girl Falak Ali is on-point. Her enunciation is laudable (read Khan from the epiglottis).

The girl from the North East, Andrea, played by Andrea Taring makes for an eye-opening reality of the racism that the North-Easterns have to continuously put up with.

However Piyush Mishra, unusually, disappoints us with his performance as the over enthusiastic prosecutor Mr Kumar. Certain instances were like Rustom revised.

Moving on, the poem that Amitabh Bachchan recites during the end credits is worth sitting through the credits. It is beautiful, powerful and assertive.

Chunar uda ke dhwaj bana, Gagan bhi kapkapaaega
Agar teri chunar giri toh ek bhookamp aaega
Tu khud ki khoj mein nikal, tu kis liye hataash hai
Tu chal tere wajood ki samay ko bhi talaash hai.”

P. S. The film shows a landlord so surrealistically cool that everyone is gonna covet one like him. Watch to know why. Also, I couldn’t gather much on why PINK is called PINK and it would be a shame if it would have been titled like that because it revolves around girls because Gender stereotypes are a big NO and “no means NO.”

[Watch] Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s Trailer Will Restore Your Faith In Karan Johar

India’s Ellen Degeneres, Karan Johar, is back with his latest and one of the most talked about films of the year; Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

Boasting of a star cast that will make top Hollywood producers touch themselves, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is an intense love story, between all of its characters.

(It’s premature right to predict who loves whom in the movie)

The last time Karan Johar made a movie, people exercised their right to question by asking “aisa school kahan hota hai?!”

But the ace director seems to be back to doing what he does best; showing how rich people behave.

However this time around, he has one of the best young actors working in the country today, Ranbir Kapoor. His recent films may not have worked as well as he wanted them to, but Ranbir Kapoor’s tendency to take risks shows his grit.

Even in the trailer of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Ranbir seems to be on top of his game. It’s also a welcome change to see Aishwarya Rai return to the screen in a flamboyant role.

But the heart of the trailer lies in those rare Fawad Khan appearances that strangely make you feel proud of our cinema. Fawad Khan’s charm transcends boundaries and hatred and that’s the true nature of every art form.

And then there’s the ace of spades, hidden in the intricacies of this trailer, meant to make leave you with a smile every time she appears; Anushka Sharma.

It’s heartening to see such beautiful and talented line up of actors come together in a beautifully woven trailer.

While we continue to talk to random strangers about the film on the internet, here’s the trailer for you:

We don’t wanna give away any spoilers but the film’s Wikipedia page says Shahrukh Khan is going to have a cameo in the film.

The film releases on 28 October 2016.

Priyanka Chopra Slyly Revealed That She Might Be In A Relationship And Many More Things

Priyanka Chopra is a powerhouse of talent: After ruling Bollywood for years, she has almost clasped Hollywood’s throat with panache.

Thanks to her, the world got to witness an Indian actress making it big in Hollywood, an industry where only Indian actors dream to work. With her work, she has carved a niche for herself and has become a force to reckon with, carving one milestone after another.

PC interviewed with Refinery29 and spilled some beans on her personal life. She threw a light on her personal relationships and made us realise why there can be no one like her.

Here are some excerpts from the interview:

1. She is so successful on the work front and there is not a shadow of doubt that many men would want to court her. PC doesn’t talk much about that trail of thought often and one is left wondering “Is she dating someone?” Finally, she has provided an answer to that barren land.

If walk out on the streets and there are paparazzi taking my picture, I’m not hypocritical enough to turn around and say, ‘Don’t take my picture, It’s their job to do it. I feel like 90% of my life is an open book. ‘I live my life for the world‘. Those lines are very clear for me. When I step out of the house and I go to work, I’m someone else. When I finish work and come back, then I’m me.”

“I feel like something should be mine, so I protect myself, Not that I have not been in relationships. I have very much. Right now, I guess I’m in a place where it’s complicated.”

2. More often than not, media categorises attributes like ‘fair’, ‘slim’, ‘toned’ as beautiful. Priyanka Chopra doesn’t embrace that thought and shruggs it off by stating something substantial.

I know everything is about diversity right now. But I think it should be about humanity. It’s 2016. It’s so easy to separate ourselves and become smaller and smaller pieces of humanity,” she says. “I don’t like the phrase ‘woman of color.’ I feel like that puts women in a box. I’m a woman, whether I’m white, Black, brown, green, blue, or pink — whatever. I think we need to start looking beyond that. It would be a big win for women, period.

3. Despite being so strong and hard working, she gushes about the person who was closest to her heart: her dad. It makes us realise that in the matters of heart, you need your space and time to recuperate the loss.

I’m a really tough girl,I’m really good at fixing things and dealing with things. When the big shit hits the fan: I’m the one who’ll stand up and say, ‘Alright, this is the solution. We can do this. This is fixable.’ But I couldn’t do that with my dad.”

4. She is the Miss World 2000, but she doesn’t consider herself beautiful (wow!). She talks about the definition of beautiful and it’s completely mind blowing.

I didn’t even know I was beautiful until — I don’t even know it now, I don’t think I was the most beautiful girl in the world. I think I won because I was well spoken and I was decently turned out. The stars aligned that day. But I taught myself to be the best version of myself over the years.”

“Beauty is so subjective, whether it’s art, whether it’s human beings, whether it’s nature. What is one person’s ‘Mona Lisa’ is not someone else’s, you know?

“Beauty has nothing to do with me,” she says. “I was born with it. But I don’t want to be known by the fact that I’m beautiful. I want to be known for the fact that I’m an achiever. Not even an actor. I don’t want a label. I don’t want a box. I want a legacy.

Isn’t that incredible?

More power to you, PC! <3 You would always rule our hearts because of your oozing confidence and magnetic charisma.

Soha Ali Khan Was Trolled For Praying To ‘Hindu Gods’ And It Shows Everything That’s Wrong With Our Society

Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan was slammed on social media by a bunch of buffons after she paid a visit to a Ganpati pandal on Friday.

However, this wasn’t the first time Soha was a victim of online trolling. She faced similar criticism when she visited Golden Temple in Amritsar a few months back.

Despite such hate comments on her post, Soha Ali Khan didn’t lose her cool and gave back to the trollers in the most dignified way.

In an interview with Mid-day, she said, “My religion is my business alone. Whether I choose to do namaz or go to a church, how does it affect anyone? People shouldn’t bother about what’s not their business. I am all for freedom of expression, but being told how going to a temple makes me a non-Muslim is plain callous. No one has the right to say that. I am not a commodity and so, a particular community cannot own me. Our social fabric is so rich because we are diverse. Respect each other’s choices.”

Singer Abhijeet Doesn’t Want Karan Johar To Sign Pak Actors And We’re Trying Hard To Understand Why

The unprecedented Uri attacks shook the nation. Once again. The aftermath of the attacks gave rise to unwarranted hatred between the two nations. People targetted Pakistanis and passed a judgement call to throw them out of the country as a sign to malign the nation.

At least, that seems to be the common solution to fight terrorism.

One of them was the renowned singer, Abhijeet Bhattacharya who dissed Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt  for signing Pakistani actors in their respective movies.

1. His insensitive rant started with abusing the producers and directors of the film industry.

2. He was quick to blame the Visa officials too.

3. He didn’t stop there, he slammed Karan Johar for ‘feeding’ these Pak actors.

4. After targeting visa officials, he played some blame game with Sushma Swaraj.

5. He made sure his pleas fell on MNS’s ears so that they can do full justice to his not-so-justified anger

Dear Abhijeet Bhattacharya,

You need to stop spewing hatred on big social platforms like this. We need to curb terrorism and that wouldn’t be attained by boycotting Pakistani people from the film industry, for sure. After all, a handful of terrorists can’t decide the fate of fellow Pakistanis, if we speak on a large scale. You may be riding high on the Pakophobia wave, but your crass rants are certainly not helping anyone, except, of course, putting you in the spotlight and instigating hatred amongst people.

These reactions from the netizens who are hailing you as their hero prove my stance.

It scares me to even think of living in a world like this.
